Our second longest travel day will be a bit short on adventure, so here´s some lovely cake from breakfast.
We wake up to angry skies, and just before we leave the thunderstorm hits, thank goodness we did our city tour yesterday. Even the hotel dog looks unhappy.
The rain doesn’t last and en route to the airport we stop for Marsala chaii. Checkin is it’s usual problem but Narendra resolves our excess baggage situation once again.
Our first flight is to Bengaluru, the city we used to call Bangalore. This theee-hour flight is fine, I spend some time playing Ludo with Narendra, the rest reading, although we break for pot noodle lunch.
With great sadness we say goodbye to Narendra, who now has to fly several hours back home to Jaipur, having come well out of his way to ensure we safely traverse the airport. As it’s a slow news day here are a selection of regular airport brands – answers on tomorrow’s post.
Our next flight is delayed but we’re on the apron and the heat is furious, the air-con inadequate, over-heating babies screaming. Eventually we get going and thankfully it’s only 45 minutes to Cochin Airport.
Cochin is the British name, it was officially changed back to Kochi in 1996 but just like Bombay and Calcutta the old and the new are used interchangeably.
We have an overnight in Kochi, but will return for our last two nights here. The Holiday Inn is a very different place to Raj Bengal but the food is excellent and the wine duty lower in this state so every cloud eh?
